Hunting Regulation Advisory Committee (HRAC)

The purpose of the Hunting Regulation Advisory Committee is to provide advice and information to Council concerning the discharge of firearms and hunting within the Municipality, in relation to Discharge of Firearms Regulation Bylaw No. 2155, 1974.

Mandate

 The HRAC will, consistent with the purpose described above, undertake the following:

  1. Advise on the necessity, feasibility or desirability of regulating the discharge of firearms on lands within the boundaries of the Municipality, and for which Council has direct responsibility. Issues the Committee may advise upon include, but are not limited to, public safety, land use and zoning changes, and conformity with Provincial and Federal regulations.
  2. Advise Council with regard to the discharge of firearms by persons engaged in farming or their agents, when firearms are discharged for the purpose of protecting livestock or crops.
  3. Advise on any proposals with regard to areas that may be considered as open or closed to the discharge of firearms or hunting, with primary consideration being the public's safety.
  4. Develop, maintain and promote Code of Behaviour for hunters and other recreational users in farming and wildlife habitat areas.

Meeting Schedule

The HRAC meets two times per year or as required. Note: Meeting dates are subject to change and should be confirmed by calling (604) 946-3220.

Membership

The Committee shall consist of eight (8) members appointed or as otherwise directed by Council, who shall serve without compensation as follows:
