Seniors Advisory Committee (SAC)

The purpose of the Seniors Advisory Committee (SAC) is to provide a vehicle for Seniors' input into municipal services, identify shortfalls in supporting seniors' needs and respond to applications for development that may have a benefit to the ageing population.
Mandate
The Committee shall provide advice to Council on aspects of the following:
- To consult with seniors on their well-being.
- Make seniors aware of municipal services.
- Identify what services are offered by the Regional, Provincial and Federal Governments.
- Identify gaps in services (within each level of govenment's responsibility).
- Advocate to the Regional, Provincial and Federal Governments to fill the gaps in service (health services, transportation, housing and social needs).
- Provide input into any housing proposals that may be put in front of Council.
- Review and provide input into municipal infrastructure projects from a safety and accessibility perspective.
The Committee will develop a Work Program during its initial year as guided by the Mayor.

Meeting Schedule
The Committee shall meet a minimum of four (4) times per year. Meeting dates are subject to change and should be confirmed by calling (604) 946-3220.

Membership
The Committee shall consist of eleven (11) members, appointed or as otherwise directed by Council, who shall serve without compensation as follows:
- Lois E. Jackson, Mayor (Chair)
- One (1) member of Council (Vice Chair)
- George Harvie, Chief Administrative Officer (Senior Staff)
- Two (2) community members from North Delta
- One (1) community member from Tsawwassen
- One (1) community member from Ladner
- One (1) representative from Fraser Health
- Director or Deputy Director of Engineering
- Delta's Emergency Social Services Coordinator
- Superintendent of Recreational Programs
