The Council of the Corporation of Delta may bestow a Civic or Sport Recognition award, when deemed appropriate, for the formal recognition of outstanding achievements by an individual and/or group. The Office of the Municipal Clerk coordinates and manages all duties related to the presentation of Civic Recognition Awards.
Council endorsed the Civic and Sport Recognition Policy which provides for the granting of six levels of Civic Recognition as follows:
- Freedom of the Municipality Award
- Civic Merit Award
- Major Achievement or Long-term Contribution Award
- Achievement Award
- Certificate/Letter of Appreciation
- Sport Recognition

Nominations are accepted to recognize individuals, organizations and community groups who have provided outstanding service that has enriched the Municipality of Delta. Nominations are reviewed by the Civic and Sport Recognition Policy Review Committee on a quarterly basis.
