Mayor Jackson's Garden Contest for Kids

Mayor Jackson's Garden contest is an annual event to encourage children ages 5 to 16 to be active outdoors and learn how to garden.

The Mayor is looking for all green-thumb enthusiasts! Be creative! You can grow a balcony garden, container garden, patio garden or a vegetable garden on a small urban lot.

Grow a garden this spring/summer, complete an entry form and submit it along with a date-stamped photo of your garden and you could win!

What Kind of Garden Can I Grow?

You can enter your garden into one of two categories:

• Flower garden
• Vegetable garden

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded to each of the categories.

• Top Prize: A one year facility pass to all Delta Parks, Recreation & Culture facilities
• 1st Runner Up: $150 certificate towards a facility pass
• 2nd Runner Up: $75 certificate towards a facility pass

How Do I Enter?

Entry forms are available:

• Online
• At any Delta Recreation Centre Customer Service Office
• At local nurseries

Submit your entry forms between August 1 and 4:00pm September 9, 2013 with a date-stamped photo one of three ways:

• Drop off at any Delta Recreation Centre Customer Service Office

Please ensure your photo and contest entry information (name, age, address, phone number, email address if applicable, and garden category) is submitted by 4:00 pm September 9, 2013. All photographs submitted for this contest will become the property of the Corporation of Delta and may be used in both promotional and information material and/or posted on Delta's website.
