MK Delta Lands Group appeared as a delegation at the Regular Meeting of Council on Monday, September 23, 2013 and provided Delta Council an update on their proposed development concept for the property at 10770 72 Avenue. The revised proposal includes a maximum of 1,100 housing units (650 apartment units and 450 townhouses), up to 130,000 square feet of ground oriented retail/commercial space, and would leave 35 acres for open space, parks and stormwater retention.

In January 2013, MK Delta Lands Group submitted a mixed-use land use proposal for the property located at 10770 72 Avenue on the east side of Highway 91 between 72 Avenue and 64 Avenue. This proposal was based on feedback that the applicant received during their consultation process in 2012.
In response to this submission, The Corporation of Delta hosted a Public Open House on February 7, 2013.
On May 27, 2013, Council gave first and second readings to Bylaw No. 7196 which would amend the Official Community Plan for the subject property to allow a mixed-use development. Council also referred the application to Metro Vancouver and requested the Greater Vancouver Regional District Board to consider the proposed amendments to the Regional Growth Strategy prior to Delta holding a local Public Hearing.
On July 26, 2013, the Greater Vancouver Regional District Board resolved to initiate the process to amend the Regional Growth Strategy; however, they resolved to not hold a regional Public Hearing until The Corporation of Delta holds a local Public Hearing and Delta Council considers a decision on third reading of the applicable bylaws. The owner has indicated they may change elements of their overall land use plan.
Prior to Delta holding a local Public Hearing, MK Delta Lands Group will be required to further refine their proposal in order to have zoning bylaw amendments prepared along with any other applicable bylaw amendments. There will also be further public consultation on the revised proposal before a local Public Hearing is held.
