Foreign Farm Workers Information
The Corporation of Delta has a long history as a farming and fishing community and appreciates the contribution that farm workers from other countries make to our economy and community.
Delta is committed to providing a positive experience to workers while they are here. An information pamphlet was developed to help foreign farm workers connect with community resources for social, recreational and health needs.
Examples of some of the information included are:
- How to contact agencies that can provide information and assistance on worker's rights and safety
- Phone numbers for the local offices of foreign consulates
- Delta park locations
- Delta library locations
- Post office locations
- Local sites of interest
- Recreation centres
- Contact information for WARM, a local committee that helps to welcome foreign workers, by organizing social gatherings, language training and sports events.
The pamphlet is being produced in two other languages; Spanish and Filipino (Tagalog) and will be available at the Municipal Hall, representatives from WARM, the Delta Farmers Institute, the Western Agricultural Labour Initiative as well as consular offices. Copies of the pamphlet can also be downloaded through this website.
