Adopt-a-Street Program

Adopt-A-Street

Delta's recent growth has made it more difficult to control the increasing litter on our streets. The cost of cleaning up litter puts a huge strain on the Municipality's ability to supply services. The Adopt-A-Street program allows citizens to show their civic pride and help with this problem. Civic clubs, individuals, garden clubs, businesses, churches and other organizations maintain various segments of Delta's roads. Volunteers perform litter pick-up four times a year. This helps the Municipality reallocate funds to other much-needed programs.

To find a street to adopt

The best way is to look out your window and see if the street near your home is litter free. If you take regular walks, you may see a place that is just begging for some attention. Or let Engineering Operations match you to a location from their list of spots available for adoption. Contact Engineering Operations at (604) 952-3400 or engineering@corp.delta.bc.ca

The Municipality will place a sign, with your name on it, at the adopted site. If you wish, you can remain anonymous. A municipal representative will give an orientation before you start work.
