New Burns Bog website launched by the Corporation of Delta

The Corporation of Delta's new Burns Bog website is now online at www.burnsbog.ca.

Burns Bog is an ecological treasure located in the heart of Delta, British Columbia. It has been a long-term goal of Mayor Jackson and Delta Council to develop a website that provides detailed information on the history, purchase, conservation, science, and restoration activities of Burns Bog. Raising awareness of Burns Bog's unique ecosystem and the critical need to preserve it for future generations is a key concern of the Corporation of Delta.

The website also features a chronology of events at Burns Bog along with a sizeable photo gallery that captures various landscapes, operations, history, plants and wildlife and past fires. Be sure to visit the site often, as we will be launching a Kid's Science Corner featuring games, interesting facts, quizzes and experiments - a great educational tool for both teachers and parents alike.

Critical to the conservation of Burns Bog was the purchase of 2,042 hectares of bog land in 2004 by four levels of government and its protection under a conservation covenant. We continue to pursue opportunities to increase the extent of protected lands in an effort to achieve the long-term sustainability of Burns Bog.
