2010 BC Municipal Spending Watch Report

December 15, 2010

10:00 am

In response to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) 2010 Municipal Spending Watch Report, Mayor Lois E. Jackson issued a letter to CFIB Vice President, Laura Jones, challenging the report and its analysis of municipal finances.

"The report, which is based on erroneous assumptions regarding municipal financing, is not only fundamentally flawed, but is misleading to the general public and damaging to the public perception of local government, said Mayor Lois E. Jackson. "As Delta's Mayor and Chair of the Metro Vancouver Board, I welcome transparency in government financing and encourage meaningful analysis and oversight of financial policy and spending."

In addition to the letter, Delta's Director of Finance, Karl Preuss, provided a presentation to Delta Council on the CFIB's report.
