Earth Hour is a growing international conservation awareness initiative coordinated by the World Wildlife Fund. It started last year in Sydney, Australia where 2.2 million people and 2100 businesses reduced energy use by 10.2% for that hour. This year, the initiative is worldwide.
Delta encourages its residents and businesses to turn off all unnecessary lights for one hour at home and at work on Saturday evening to raise awareness and support for action on climate change. The Corporation of Delta is taking significant steps to mitigate climate change - this is one small way Delta citizens can support these efforts. All Corporation of Delta buildings will be reducing lighting levels as low as possible while maintaining safe operations for staff and patrons at 8:00 pm on Saturday, March 29th.
