3:00 pm With Halloween falling on a weekend this year, the Corporation of Delta will, again, be taking special measures to protect the safety of its municipal facilities and parks. In cooperation with CUPE Local 454, the Corporation will be coordinating a Halloween Patrol of parks and public areas this weekend. Both unionized and management staff will volunteer their time to provide extra 'eyes' and 'ears' in the parks and public buildings. These staff will report suspicious activity immediately to the Police. In addition to extra people on patrol, the lights on all playing fields will be left on overnight throughout the weekend. This initiative proved successful the last two years and is intended to deter damage that occurred to Delta fields and park facilities at Halloween prior to 2008. We look forward to a safe and enjoyable Halloween in Delta. Anyone who sees suspicious activity is asked to call Delta Police at (604) 946-4411. Emergencies should be reported to 911. For further information, please contact Parks, Recreation & Culture at (604) 946-3293 or Josh Turner, CUPE Local 454 President at (604) 943-4526. |
