Vancouver Landfill Fire

An underground fire has been found at the Vancouver Landfill located in Delta.

Delta Emergency Services is working with City of Vancouver Landfill staff in a joint response to extinguish the fire as quickly as possible. Delta's Mayor Lois E. Jackson and Chief Administrative Officer have activated the Emergency Operations Centre to support the command centre at the Vancouver Landfill.

Metro Vancouver has responded to Delta's request for a Mobile Air Monitoring Unit (MAMU) to be deployed to the Vancouver Landfill to assist in monitoring air quality impacts resulting from the fire.
