February 9th Olympic Torch Relay Routes for Delta

Today, VANOC released the Olympic Torch relay routes { pdf 650KB } in North Delta, Tsawwassen, and Ladner. As Delta is a 'route community' without a formal VANOC celebration stop, the Corporation of Delta, along with the Spirit of BC Committee and community groups, is organizing a series of entertainers, giveaways and activities along the routes. This series of events is called "Light the Spirit of Delta".

Delta is working to ensure that schools, churches, community groups, business associations and all Delta residents have an opportunity to see the Torch safely and enjoy cultural celebrations as well. Teatro Tatro, a Slovakian theatrical troupe commissioned by VANOC to perform at 'live sites' during the Olympics, will perform in all three communities and a variety of local performers will keep spectators entertained as they await the Torch. Opportunities will also be available for the public to meet torchbearers and have photos taken with them.
