The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission is looking into possible lead content in some synthetic turf fields after recently finding high concentrations in two synthetic turf fields in New Jersey. Unlike Delta, these were nylon-based synthetic turf fields. All four of Delta's synthetic turf fields are made of polyethylene. The Product Safety Commission has tested at least twelve polyethylene based fields and found "very low or undetectable levels of lead" and all indications are that there is no evidence of heavy metals in Delta's synthetic turf fields. However, to be absolutely certain, all four of Delta's fields have been tested. A report to Council outlining the finding of local field testing is scheduled for Monday, June 9th, 2008.
