Deltaport Third Berth Project (DP3)

Overview

The Deltaport Third Berth project (DP3) is a Port Metro Vancouver and TSI Terminal Systems Inc. (TSI) initiative to expand existing operations at the Deltaport container terminal at Roberts Bank. Construction began in January 2007 and includes: marine works; terminal works; rail works; Highway 17 improvements and habitat compensation. The formal opening event for DP3 was held on January 18, 2010 - the terminal infrastructure is complete and truck gate three is now in service.

DP3 will increase capacity at Deltaport by 400,000 TEUs (twenty foot equivalent units) by adding a third berth and 20 hectares of container storage facilities to the existing two berth terminal.

DP3 is authorized under a provincial Environmental Assessment Certificate and has permits and approvals issued by Environment Canada and Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

DP3 Community Liaison Committee (DCLC)

The Deltaport Third Berth Project Community Liaison Committee (DCLC) consists of 17 individuals representing residents, community associations, businesses and port stakeholders in Delta. The purpose of the group is to work with the Port during the construction and first year of operation of DP3 to identify community concerns and develop potential solutions to those concerns.
