Family Fright Fest!
Oct 25, 2012
Kick off Halloween at Family Fright Fest, a free family event held on October 25th between 4:30 and 7:30 pm at McKee Seniors Recreation Centre and other facilities in the area.
This year, South Delta Secondary School students will transform the McKee Heritage House into "Hogwarts School of Witch Craft and Wizardly". Teacher Paige Hansen and her students have been working very hard to make it a fun yet chilling experience.
Once through the 'Hogwarts School', the Halloween tour continues at McKee Seniors Recreation Centre where the Seniors' Society will create phantasmagorical trick or treat doors.
Library staff will be telling spooky stories for toddlers and preschoolers from 5:00-5:30 pm, 6:00-6:30 pm and 7:00-7:30 pm.
Crafts will be held in the main hall. Kee Café will offer a great meal deal for $5.00.
The Wintemute Boys & Girls Club will have a Mad Scientist Lab with creepy games and activities. There will be face painting, balloon artist, cotton candy, popcorn, and much more in the surrounding area as well.
This event is appropriate for all ages, with good signage to allow 'detours' of the scarier spectacles for the squeamish and very young.
ROAD CLOSURE: Please note that 47th Avenue will be closed between Arthur Drive and 51st Street from 3:00 to 8:00 pm on October 25th to ensure the safety of all participants and to accommodate the street activities which include live music, popcorn, hay rides, crafts, Delta's Fire House and more.
Organization of the event includes the support of SDSS Equinox Theatre, McKee House Seniors Society, Boys & Girls Club of South Coast BC, the Fraser Valley Regional Library and the Corporation of Delta. Community sponsors include Mike Guichon Ltd, the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen, and the Delta Community Music School.
If you can't attend Family Fright Fest, additional tours through the "Haunted House" will be held on Friday, October 26th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. ALL AGES WELCOME!
