Collection Guidelines
- Collection will be Monday through Thursday between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm. Materials should be set out at curbside by 7:00 am on your collection day
- The Collection Schedule reflects your collection dates and schedule changes due to holidays
- Garbage must be contained in cans or tied garbage bags
- No ties or bungee cords are permitted on cans.
- Residents are responsible for garbage scattered due to animals, birds or weather
- Weekly limit of up to two (2) standard garbage cans or 60 cm plastic bags are allowed. Can and bag specifications:
- 60cm (24") diameter
- 75cm (30") height
- 55lbs (25kg) in weight
A container larger than those specified may only be used if the garbage inside is contained in no more than two standard garbage bags.
- Oversized garbage cans and bags are considered over the two (2) can limit and may not be collected from curbside. Please ensure that they are properly tagged with the garbage stickers

Extra Quantity
- Garbage in excess of the two (2) can/bag limit will be collected if each item is accompanied by a garbage sticker
- Items larger than a standard garbage can/bag require two (2) stickers
- During Spring Clean-Up week, the two (2) can limit is waived. No extra stickers are required
Additional garbage stickers can be purchased for $7.50 per 6 stickers from Delta Municipal Hall, North and South Delta's recreation centres or from Remple Disposal Ltd at (604) 580-3379.

Materials Not Accepted
Certain items are banned from the garbage, keeping them out of landfills. These banned items are either:
- Recyclable, and have a municipal or industry-led recycling program
- Considered household hazardous waste and are unsafe for workers or the environment.
The following materials will not be accepted for weekly garbage collection:
- Yard and garden waste
- Blue box, yellow & blue bag recyclables
- Liquids of any type
- Particulate waste - unwrapped ashes, sawdust and alike
- Hazardous or biomedical waste
- Propane tanks
- Lumber, construction, demolition or home renovation materials
- Concrete, gyproc, soil, rocks or sod
- Petroleum and oil products
- Paint, solvents, pesticides
- Trade waste (commercial/industrial waste)
- Animal excrement
- Furniture and appliances
- Auto parts, tires, batteries
- Electronic waste including TVs, personal computers, computer monitors & printers
- Medications/pharmaceuticals
- Corrugated cardboard
- Newsprint
- Office paper
- Sharps and needles
