Climate Change Adaptation Project

In 2008, the Corporation of Delta was one of three Canadian communities to participate in a unique pilot project. ICLEI Canada (International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives) and Natural Resources Canada partnered to assess Delta's vulnerability to climate change and how we may plan to protect our community. It is called the Climate Adaptation Project. After the completion of this research project; Natural Resources Canada announced in June 2009, that it will partner again with ICLEI Canada to take the results from previous work and create a toolkit document that may be used by communities across the nation.

Delta has been asked to be the only local government on the steering committee and will be working with ICLEI Canada to produce the toolkit.This is an exciting opportunity for Delta to benefit from the scientific expertise and resources of ICLEI Canada and the Canadian government.
