OCP and the Environment
Delta's Official Community Plan (OCP) contains a section titled "Natural Environment" (Schedule A, Section 2.4) which covers topics such as:
- Fish and Wildlife Habitat,
- Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESAs),
- Trees,
- Water and Foreshore (Water Quality, Stormwater and Groundwater),
- Air Quality and Climate Change,
- Natural and Geotechnical Hazards,
- Soil Quality and Contaminated Sites,
- Energy and Water Consumption,
- Land Use and Built Environment,
- Light and Noise Abatement,
- Municipal Environmental Practices, and
- Stewardship.
Environmental issues are also integrated throughout other sections of the OCP such as Industry, Agriculture, and Parks, Recreation and Culture. In addition, the five associated Area Plans (East Ladner, Riverside, Ladner, North Delta, and Tsawwassen) provide a refined level of detail by addressing environmental policies specific to each Area.
