Water Management

Delta enjoys excellent water quality. About 95 percent of the water used in Delta comes from three reservoirs (Capilano Seymour, and Coquitlam) in the Metro Vancouver Water District. The remaining 5 percent comes from three wells located near Watershed Park.

Delta's water distribution network is about 580 kilometres long and supplies water to four distinct geographical areas, North Delta, Ladner, Tsawwassen and Annacis Island.

The Health of Our Water System

The health of our water system and public trust in it are something we take seriously. Our testing regiment meets and often surpasses the Water Monitoring Protocol set out by the Provincial Government.

We sample and test more sites than required and conduct more thorough and frequent tests of our well water source than required. We employ full-time staff dedicated to water testing and sampling. Our water technician is equipped with the most recent equipment available. When our water sampling van is in the neighbourhood, it is a confirmation that we are doing whatever we can to provide our citizens with safe and healthy drinking water.

Annual Water Quality Report

Providing the highest quality drinking water in a sufficient quantity to meet the demands of our community at a reasonable cost to our customers continues to be the focus of our water utility. A safe, clean and reliable drinking water supply is essential to the survival of our community and is an important element in our Climate Change initiative.

Our Annual Water Quality report demonstrates the commitment of our staff to these primary goals of quality and sustainability for Delta's water supply. The report focuses on our water quality monitoring and reporting protocol that structures a sample collection and testing program to verify the quality and safety of our community's water supply. The report also addresses our ongoing capital infrastructure replacement, and operating and maintenance programs for the long-term sustainability of our water supply.
