Integrated Solid Waste & Resource Management Plan (ISWRMP)
Metro Vancouver is responsible for managing the garbage produced by the residents and businesses in the Lower Mainland. The Integrated Solid Waste and Resource Management Plan (ISWRMP) was approved by the Metro Vancouver Board on June 30, 2010 and by the Province on July 25, 2011. One of the main goals of the Plan is to improve reduction, resuse and recycling efforts so that by 2015, a minimum of 70% of our waste is kept out of disposal (landfill or waste-to-energy).

| Where can I drop off yard trimmings? | |
|
There are two locations in Delta where you can bring yard trimmings:
Remember, there is no limit to the amount of yard trimmings you can put out for weekly collection. Place yard trimmings together with food waste in your lidded Green Can. If you have extra yard trimmings, you can continue to place them in Kraft paper bags, yard trimmings containers or tied bundles. [ back ] |

| What do I do if my garbage, recycling, yard trimmings, or Green Can wasn't picked up on my collection day? | |
| If your materials were not out by 7:00 am on your pick-up day, the collection trucks may have already been through your area. Check and see if your neighbour' material has been collected. If you believe your neighborhood was missed, call our collection contractor, Remple Disposal at (604) 580-3379. You may also call Engineering at (604) 946-3260 to discuss service issues.

| What is contamination? | |
| Contamination occurs when unaccepted items are mixed with accepted items: non-recyclables in your recycling bin or garbage with your Green Can or yard trimmings. Our collection crews will not pick through your bins to remove unaccepted items - please ensure only accepted items are placed out for collection. Visit the Garbage, Recycling, and Green Can & Yard Trimmings pages for more information on unaccepted items.

| Why can't we recycle light bulbs, windowpanes or Pyrex with glass bottles and jars in the Blue Box or Mixed Containers toter? | |
| Each of these products has a different melting point compared to glass bottles and jars. It is not possible to reuse the glass from these materials to make new glass bottles.

|
| Can I recycle Styrofoam (polystyrene)? | |

| It is best to recycle your beverage containers at your local Encorp Return-It Centre or grocery store so you can get your deposit back.
