Grade Five and Six Admission Passes
This page covers the following topics:
Overview
Delta Parks, Recreation and Culture blazed the trail with Grade Five passes, an idea that has taken off around the province and across the country. The Grade Five pass program was developed to meet the challenge of keeping kids active and especially so at an age when statistics show that children start to drop out of organized sports. The program offers free drop-in use of facilities to all grade five students who live in Delta. The intent is to encourage healthy, active lifestyles and introduce Delta's young people to public facilities. Most grade five students are able to attend supervised drop-in programs without parental supervision but, in response to community input, children using their Grade Five pass can now bring along a person (must be 13 years or older) for free when they use their pass.
In 2007, an addition to the Grade Five program of a ten admission pass card for grade six students was made to help 'ease' them into paying for their recreation.

Grade Five Admission Pass
Starting September 1, 2010, students attending grade five for the 2010-2011 school year can drop by any Delta Recreation Centre and activate their one year grade five pass.
With the pass, grade five students can attend any public skate or swim session. As well, a grade five pass holder can bring along a youth, young adult or an adult (must be 13 years or older) for free, each time they use their pass. To get the pass started, students must bring their birth certificate and proof of address to the customer service office in any of Delta's recreation facilities. Students will then have their photo taken for the pass card and they'll be able to swim or skate right away. The Grade Five pass can be activated any time between September 1, 2010 and August 31, 2011; all Grade Five passes activated for the 2010/11 school year expire at midnight on August 31, 2011.
Please note, grade five students whose birth year is not year 2000 for 2010-2011 school year require a note from their teacher or principal affirming enrollment in grade five.
