Fees and Charges

Delta Parks and Recreation fees are set through a municipal Bylaw. Bylaw 6637, adopted on November 19, 2007, set the fees for the years 2008, 2009 and 2010. The Bylaw covers drop-in fees, rental fees for pools, arena ice, arena dry floor, curling facilities, community halls and rooms, as well as park and park facility rentals, reservations and fees. Bylaw 6503, by setting fees for three years, aimed to assist user groups with budget preparation.

Facilities

Recreation is for Everyone

Delta Parks, Recreation and Culture strives to make recreation affordable for everyone. The programs listed below offer opportunities to those who cannot afford to pay.

Leisure Access Pass

Delta Parks, Recreation and Culture offers a 6 month family pass to people of any age, for admission to drop-in programs at our facilities. It's issued by local agencies to families in need; a small administration fee will apply starting January 1st, 2008. The passes can be activated at any time. JumpStart

Canadian Tire generously provides a fund that allows Delta children aged 5 to 17 to access 'active' programs and services. JumpStart may be used for sports team registration, private activity programs and programs of Boys and Girls Club/Community Services of Delta and Parks, Recreation and Culture. Participants may request specific programs or ask for advice to make best use of JumpStart. Families may pay a portion of the fee and less expensive alternatives may be suggested dependent upon numbers of requests and funding available. The program is administered by Boys and Girls Club/Community Services of Delta in cooperation with Delta Parks, Recreation and Culture in September and March. KidSport

The KidSport Fund is the charitable arm of Sport BC that provides grants of up to $100 to individual children aged 6 to 18 whose families cannot afford sport registration fees and would otherwise not be able to participate in a season of sport. Applications must be received prior to or during the requested season of sport. Preference is given to athletes who are being introduced to organized sport. Eric Ripplinger Memorial Fund for Swim Lessons

Complete or partial funding is available for children six months to twelve years of age to learn how to swim in Delta Parks, Recreation and Culture lesson sets at any Delta pool. Please call (604) 952-3305 or email access@corp.delta.bc.cafor more information.

Eric Ripplinger was born March, 1988 but sadly drowned at age two and a half. A trust fund was created by his parents and friends to fund swim lessons for Delta children who might not otherwise be able to take them. The Corporation of Delta thanks the Ripplinger family for this generous support.

Free Admission for Assistants to People with Disabilities

Delta Parks, Recreation and Culture encourages people of all ability levels to use our facilities and recognizes that some people require help to fully enjoy the amenities offered. Admission is free for a person who accompanies a patron with disabilities to drop-in and registered programs. For more information, call (604) 946-3288 or email pwd@corp.delta.bc.ca.
