History
The Boundary Bay Airport was re-activated in 1983 after being closed following the Second World War. At that time, Transport Canada was the owner and landlord. Transport Canada entered into an agreement with a private company, Boundary Bay Airport Commission (BBAC), to manage the airside operation and also the development rights to the part of the property known as the "demised lands." Alpha Aviation Ltd took over the airport lease in December 2004 and now operates the airport.

Ownership
The ownership of Boundary Bay Airport was officially transferred in 1997 from Transport Canada to the Corporation of Delta. The Corporation of Delta is the landowner, the landlord to the various lease holders, as well as the municipal taxation and regulatory authority of the airport lands. Besides the approximately 190 acres of industrially zoned land, the airport also includes land in the Agricultural Land Reserve. Much of this is currently leased for agricultural purposes, such as topsoil storage and haying, or is considered environmentally sensitive and is leased to the Ministry of Environment. Land north of the B.C. Railway known as the "North 40" is largely unused. A multi-stakeholder committee, the Boundary Bay Airport Advisory Committee, provides advice and recommendations to Council in an advisory capacity on matters pertaining to the Boundary Bay Airport.
