Ladner Harbour Park Foot Bridge Update
The Corporation of Delta has funding set aside to rebuild the foot bridge at Ladner Harbour Park, which is scheduled to be rebuilt this year.
Since the trail system surrounding the lagoon at Ladner Harbour Park is under the purview of the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, a licence agreement between Delta and the provincial government must be concluded before Delta can rebuild the bridge. At the August 29, 2011 Regular Meeting, Council approved a licence agreement with the provincial government and Delta is currently awaiting for the province to finalize the agreement so that the foot bridge can be rebuilt. Under the agreement, Delta would gain the right to manage the trail system for a 10 year period while the Ministry would continue to manage all other aspects of the Wildlife Management Area.
As soon as the province finalizes the licence agreement, Delta is ready to undertake construction. The Kiwanis Club has generously volunteered labour to help build the bridge and Delta looks forward to working with the Kiwanis Club to see this project through to fruition. Updates will be provided as they become available.
